A mixture of running and walking
I can't believe I went running with the starter group of the Serpentines Running Club last night. I ran with the slower group for beginners to give running a go. Surprisingly, it was very enjoyable despite all the aches I had. Okay, it wasn't running all the way, I had to walk in between my very slow running. The weather was horrible yesterday evening, very windy and it was raining. The run started off from the sports centre, then onto Hyde Park. The total distance of the route is: 4.3 miles around Hyde Park plus 0.4 miles x 2 for the route between the sports centre and Speaker's Corner. That's a total of 5.1 miles! For those of you who works with metric, that's 8.2 km. It took me 1 hour 15 minutes to complete that. I was very pleased with myself not quitting half way through as it was very tough.I don't think I will join that club to go running again, not because I don't like the people at the club. The people were great especially the guy who lead our run, Gowan. He was very patient and encouraging. The club is just too far to get to from work and quite far to get home from there, and it was tiring to run after work. Last night I went home straight away without changing and I didn't get home until 9.30pm. I hope I didn't cause any fellow passengers to faint because of my smell! :-p
I guess I will start running on a regular basis, probably on a treadmill at the college gym. Right now, I need some time to rest my aching legs before I can attempt running again.
