Stir-Fry Homemade Udon (手打烏冬)
I made Stir-Fry Homemade Udon (手打烏冬) today. Well, I didn't stir-fry it (my Mum did that), but I did make the noodles from scratch myself (Note: The udon is freshly made from a dough). It is very easy and cheap to make. I guess the appearance of it can be improved, but it did look and taste okay for a first attempt. I hope my brother's not going to kill me for posting a photo of him on this blog. Hehe..

Making 'fishes' (金魚年糕)
I made some fishes this afternoon. Well, I mean I made some Chinese New Year food. I know it's a bit early but I wanted to try out the recipe. Here are some pictures of the fishes (Chinese Pudding - 金魚年糕) I made.

Tomorrow's meeting
We have a very important meeting at work tomorrow. The meeting concerns the application for a new grant for our service, and we need to ask fellow academics for their support. I hope it will turn out okay, otherwise I will be out of a job by mid November when the current grant runs out this year. I guess I am not worried about being unemployed, but we do have a good plan for the next grant and I would like to be a part of it as there will be many new stuff to learn and implement.I have to dress up for tomorrow's meeting. I usually go to work wearing my jeans and tops, but whenever we have a meeting, I tend to dress up a bit. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but this time I have to find a pair of flat sole shoes to wear as my foot still hurts a bit. I managed to dig out a pair of dusty shoes I haven't wore for at least a year. It took me some time to clean it and shoe shine it. I thought my foot was getting better last Friday, but the pain returns yesterday and today. Maybe I went back to my normal walking speed too quickly. I guess I just have to walk slowly again until my foot is fully recovered.

Hurray! No more limping!
My foot seems to be much better now. The pain has reduced and I don't need to limp my way round anymore. To be on the safe side, I think I will keep the bandage support on for a few more days.Monday, January 03, 2005
...limping...
My foot still hurts, it hurts when I have been walking for a long time. It still cannot bear weight. I hope it'll be okay tomorrow as I'll be back at work. I guess it will take me much longer to get into work as I can't walk fast which I normally do.Today my friends came over to my place (Thank you! Bik & Wing - as they know I'm limping so I can't travel far!) and we went to an Italian restuarant 5 minutes from our house along with my family and my nephew. The food was quite good and they have massive pizzas. For those who chose pizza, none of them could finish eating them. We were lucky to get a table as that place is noramlly fully booked and we didn't make any reservation. My friends ended up having dinner at our place as my Mum was very persuasive! Hehe! ;-p I must apologise to Adrian for keeping Bik so long, and he had to cook his own dinner. They also made 'banana cake' ("heung jiu go" - 香蕉糕). It is so easy to make and they seemed to like it. I guess we will never spend money on buying those at extortion prices in Chinatown, as they are so cheap to make.
I hope I will be able to get up early for work tomorrow...

Still limping...
I went to the local hospital's walk-in centre an hour ago and had my foot checked out by the practitioner's nurse. No broken bones, and she said I might have sprained my foot. So she wrapped my foot in a tubigrip support and gave me advices what to do, like I have to keep my foot elavated at all times when not walking and take paracetamol when in pain, etc. If it doesn't get better in a week's time, then I need to return to have it check out again. Let's hope it will get better soon, I hate limping around!Saturday, January 01, 2005
A new year
This time, I didn't wait for the arrival of year 2005. Well, I didn't do what I used to do in previous years. Normally I would just sit by my bedroom window and watch the clock ticking until midnight. I was so tired last night that I only managed to see some fireworks from my bedroom window. I'm sure I fell asleep shortly after midnight.I have no new year resolution as I don't see any point of it. I don't think I should plan and restrict myself what I should be doing in the new year. Life changes every second...and sometimes out of our control, so it is best to live it without piling extra pressure onto myself.
